Mobile Food Pantry Volunteer Opportunity

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Mobile Food Pantry distributes nutritious food directly to under resourced communities where access can be limited. Using a no-questions-asked model, the mobile pantry provides food with dignity and ease,to approximately100–300 households at each distribution.

What Volunteers Will Do

Volunteers support every stage of the distribution by helping with set-up, packing and distributing food, and clean-up. Food items vary but often include fresh produce, meat, dairy, shelf-stable groceries, snacks, and household staples.

What to Bring / Wear

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Comfortable attire suitable for lifting and standing

Volunteer Environment

  • Outdoors
  • Rain or shine (with exceptions for extreme weather)

Who Can Volunteer

  • Adults
  • Corporate and community groups
  • Youth Under the age of 15 require adult chaperone
